In this age of information, where anyone can obtain a “healer” certification in the course of a weekend, it can be easy to fall into the deception of false light and fake gurus.
Which is why I feel it’s especially important to talk about having discernment when working with wellness practitioners and mentors within the spiritual community.
Recently, I had a past client come to me asking for advice, and he gave me permission to share his story. He told me how late last year, he was struggling at the lowest point in his life, when he met a woman at a conscious community event who told him she was a healer and a life coach and she ensured him that she was going to be able to help him. She pressured him to send a large amount of money very quickly, using his fears and insecurities to create a co-dependent relationship, making him feel like he really needed her help, and fast.
Immediately after sending the money he got a strong feeling in his body that it wasn’t the right decision and he shouldn’t work with her, and so he expressed this and asked for his $3000 deposit back. He told me, this is when she turned from light to dark.
There was no formal agreement, nor did he sign any sort of no-refund policy, and still, she refused to give his money back or give him any services moving forward. She even had the audacity to gaslight him and accuse him of overstepping her boundaries for asking for his money back when they had a verbal agreement.
In my opinion, this was very wrong of the practitioner. She preyed on a vulnerable person and stole from him. And I also feel it’s for the best that he didn’t continue working with her, because in my opinion, this is not the kind of person you want to work with. And still, to this day, she posts on social media as if she is all love and light, posing as a leader in the spiritual community.
But here’s the thing, I could feel something was off from the moment I saw her, before I even knew this story. This is why it is so valuable to have eyes anointed to see clearly, and pray for the spirit of discernment. Because God will guide us, and re-direct us, with a clear signal and felt sense when something is not aligned for us.
When I choose to work with a mentor or practitioner, this is how I use discernment:
The first thing I look for is whether they are God-centered.
For me, this is non-negotiable.
As someone who facilitates energy work myself, I know, that when you allow someone to work in your field, you are giving consent to whatever they work with to enter your field as well. If the Source from which they draw their energy from is not the one true Source, I do not consent.
I look to see whether they are in integrity, and congruent with who they say they are and how they actually show up in real life. I look to see that they are continually growing and evolving alongside God, not stuck in the same patterns or loops.
I also pay close attention to the language they use. It is especially common nowadays where people are using AI to write their posts, to target people’s insecurities. Underneath all of the fluff, this can sound something like, “Are you tired of feeling exhausted and alone? Have you tried everything, but nothing works? Well I have the solution for you.” They jab at your pain points and then try to sell you the remedy. I’m not buying it.
Someone who is truly here to help you will empower you to reclaim your connection with God, to awaken the healer within yourself, to become your own savior. Of course, that’s not as popular because once you’re sovereign, you no longer depend on them. Not a profitable business model, but the right approach when you’re actually here to serve humanity and our collective evolution.
And the biggest, and most important thing I look for, is how my body and energy responds when I explore the possibility of working with them.
So, this year I made 2 bigger investments on my personal growth, a year-long mystery school, and a God-centered business mentorship, and with each one I sat in prayer and asked, “God, is this for me?” over and over again, and if it was a yes, I would get a rising expansive yes feeling, and if it was a no I would feel a sense of contraction.
There was also a time recently when I said no to working with someone. I won an Instagram giveaway and of the 10 prizes I was gifted an ancestral healing ceremony. When I went to the practitioner’s profile I saw she was riddled with entities. So I politely and gratefully declined the session.
In the energy ceremony I offer, I also facilitate entity removal and the clearing of any artificial implants for other people. And so I know, when you are completely filled with the holy spirit, there is no room for intrusions. When you walk centered in Christ, protected by the light of God, the only way to take on these entities, is to give them your consent. And this consent can look as simple as saying yes to a session, or using ChatGPT to write your posts.
There are things I have worked with in the past, that were once helpful on my journey, that I no longer work with now. Like using AI, or working with the chakra system, which I have since revoked my consent and removed from my energy field. I also know people who work with reiki, some have beneficial experiences, while others experience psychic attacks. Personally, reiki is something that has never resonated with me and I have never felt called to worked with.
What I am trying to say is ultimately, there is no one size fits all when it comes to the spiritual world. What’s right for one may not be right for all, this goes for teachings, practices, and practitioners alike. Each one of us is on our own unique journey, and the things that support us can change as we grow and evolve.
So it is best to approach this work with both discernment and curiosity, and most importantly, to sit in prayer and meditation to see how it feels in your soul before making any big decisions or commitments. Only you will know what is right for you.
I hope this message sparks some insight and greater awareness within you.
Sending you all my love,
Kallie
